A day after the state government prohibited any kind of celebrations or protests in the wake of revoking Article 370 which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the district police took two Shiv Sena leaders into preventive custody here. The leaders, Nitin Nanda and Sanjiv Ghanauli, were released after a few hours.
BJP leader Parminder Sharma was also taken to the police station after he allegedly misbehaved with SSP Swapan Sharma over the issue last night.
It was around 11 am when the police reached the office of Nitin Nanda in Agampur village near Anandpur Sahib and shop of Sanjiv Ghanuali at Ghanauli village and took them to the police station. Soon, their supporters reached the police station. After a few hours, both were released after they promised that they would not be involved in any incident which could create communal tension in the region.
Parminder Sharma, state secretary of the BJP who was fielded by the party from Anandpur Sahib during the last Assembly elections, alleged that he was taken to the police station without any provocation on the instance of Ropar SSP Swapan Sharma.
