Driver hijacks school bus in Italy and sets it on fire

A bus filled with 51 schoolchildren was hijacked and set on fire by its driver who told them ‘no one will survive’ on Wednesday. The driver, named as Ousseynou Sy, 47, reportedly asked the teenagers to leave the vehicle before he set it alight on the outskirts of Milan, according to Italian media. All 51 children escaped unhurt in what is believed to be a protest against migrants drowning in the Mediterranean.Police spokesman Marco Palmieri said: ‘He shouted “stop the deaths at sea, I’ll carry out a massacre”.’It has been reported that some of the children were tied up. Sy was identified by police as an Italian citizen of Senegalese origin.Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the blaze. Twelve teenagers were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, hospital sources said.
