Balwinder Singh was sacked from his job at a Kurali-based private hospital on charges of negligence a day before he shot dead drug licensing officer Neha Shoree and then killed himself in Kharar on March 29.
Balwinder had joined the hospital in October last year. According to his former colleagues, he had misinformed doctors about the condition of patients at the hospital on at least four occasions. Due to his alleged negligence, a woman, 50, had died. “He was posted in emergency department of the hospital for night duty. On March 26, seven patients had been operated in hospital and the 50-year-old woman was one of them.
Her condition started deteriorating but the entire night Balwinder kept misguiding senior doctors and other staff of hospital about her condition,” said a doctor. “Later, we had to shift her to PGI, Chandigarh, where she died during treatment. Following her death, the private hospital had conducted an inquiry into the incident and found negligence on part of Balwinder.” “After the inquiry, he was to meet his superior on March 27 but he did not come for duty. Therefore, he was fired from the job,” the doctor said.
